Danggggg....:eekdrull:

skimtwashington - 11-12-2015 at 05:23 AM

a good item is a line set....at half price.

abkayak - 11-12-2015 at 07:36 AM

104$ sweatshirts :o....am i that out of touch??

bigkid - 11-12-2015 at 08:22 AM

Must not be a good Christmas for the company. At the 50% off he will still make a nice profit.
Good thing I'm not a dealer......

volock - 11-12-2015 at 09:34 AM

It's the shipping that kills... I'd love some extra line sets/landboard hardware... but I lose any savings (and then some) from the shipping.

AudereEng - 11-12-2015 at 10:07 AM

Just to be sure everyone understands how flexi web site works...

Flexi separates out the shipping so the buggy is now

Navaro Kite Buggy 643.90$
Coupon (FESTIVEFUN) -321.96$
Shipping (UPS Courier Delivery) 121.13$
That was shipping to Newport Oregon...

Grand Total 443.08$

This is less than I paid for the used one with shipping...

I would purchase one in a second having used the Navaro for the last 2 years...
I am fighting with myself not to purchase one as a spare but I see no signs I would need it anytime soon because it is holding up well.

In case anyone gets the incorrect info like I did that you can only run barrows.
You can (and I do) run Midi tires.

XXL - 11-12-2015 at 07:41 PM

If i wasnt so hung up on trying for the basixx i would buy it

IFlyKites - 11-12-2015 at 08:15 PM

No Flexi Blades?
Time for Peter Lynn or FlySurfer to make a 50% sale  Won't happen though.

XXL - 11-12-2015 at 08:29 PM

That's a good half price lynn stuff. Could imagin the stack of orders?

KiteBit - 12-12-2015 at 08:55 PM

I just ordered one of these half price buggies. ~$440 with shipping to Beaverton, OR. Woo Hoo!

@AudereEng: I just sent you a U2U to request info about the Midi tires. I'd like to try some bigger tires

kiteballoon - 14-12-2015 at 12:21 PM

BAH! Code is disabled now. Man, those were some smoking deals :'-(

AudereEng - 14-12-2015 at 10:19 PM

The midi tires I run are Deli Tire made in Indonesia
http://delitire.com/website/product/s-317/
Size is 16x6.5-8 - 4 ply Nylon

Rims are the standard black plastic 2.50A x 8"

This combination has worked well for me and was purchased from Angus - Coastal Wind Sports which sadly is now closed.

eric67m - 17-12-2015 at 05:45 PM

I ordered and waited four days. This is what showed up at my house.

Now I just need too make some time to build it this weekend.

Sorry Jeff (bigkid), this direction just made more sense for me at this time in my life.

Looks great. Enjoy it!

KiteBit - 18-12-2015 at 10:13 AM

I had some time. :)

This buggy is way sturdier than my PL folding buggy.

No apologies needed, what ever works.
The winds blowing today, want to go up to Mary Moore park?

eric67m - 18-12-2015 at 10:31 AM

I will need to take a rain check (do those even exist anymore). Possibly after the holidays. My schedule has been crazy lately. I would love to get together with either you or Dave (windy heap) to either fly or buggy in the future.

I did get part of it built last night. Looking forward to finishing the remainder on Sunday.

bigkid - 18-12-2015 at 10:41 AM

Oh sure, anybody else should be chomping at the bit to be out playing on it.
I'll think of you as I'm out playing this afternoon. No I won't, I'll be having too much fun.

eric67m - 18-12-2015 at 10:57 AM

Unfortunate other life priorities, then snow skiing (wife and kid are ready to go), then kite stuff.

I gotta get my priorities straight....

You guys are in the Pacific NorthWest where every day is a rain check...
Go outside. Rain? Check!

eric67m - 18-12-2015 at 11:14 AM

I'm just stoked because rain here means snow in the mountains. I think the resorts have as much snow now as they got all of last year...

So ready to hit the slopes and make some turns.

eric67m - 18-12-2015 at 02:59 PM

Any setup /assembly hints.

I would think greasing bolts would be bad because it would attract sand but then again would prevent galling.

I did already have a problem with a seat buckle but it's nothing that cannot be fixed with a couple of zip ties...

Problems already? I would send it back.
I guess at half the price you would be lucky to get more than half the buggy.
You missed a great time at the park......

If I'm using SS bolts, I'll usually dip the thread in some linseed oil and let the excess drain off, that seems to stop the galling. There's probably something made just for that job but yeah, seized ss bolts are no fun.

eric67m - 18-12-2015 at 04:41 PM

Overall I am happy with the product, price and shipping speed. However it would have been nice if the clip hadn't had broken.

The strap that comes from the left side of the seat, wraps around the left side rail, goes down and wraps around the axle, and wraps around the right side rail has an asymmetrical buckle. When I wrapped it properly the two ends of the clips were sewn 180°out and couldn't be clipped together. I tried to remove the movable side clip from the strap to flip it over but the stitched end was too much material to push back thru and I didn't want to un-stitch and re-stitch. I flipped it over back a loop and re-attached the buckle. It said to tighten the strap so I did. That is when one of the tabs broke off of the clip. I don't think i was pulling on y excessively hard. I clipped the rest of the clip together and I zip tied it. It should be just fine.

Photo of it. Notice my daughter has a new favorite seat in the house....

SS hardware is the pits in terms of galling, especially if it's fine threaded. Forgot to put it anything on two bolts on my Sysmic and got to drill out the bolts as they seized to the tapped metal piece... It's switched to bolt and nut now.

Silicon Lubricant and Polytetrafluoroethylene PTFE are the two preferred choices, but about any lubricant or thread seize works.

bigkid - 18-12-2015 at 05:33 PM

Eric, I have a sewing machine that will fix that .
In case you were not aware of the design aspect of the buggy seat...
The point were the seat attaches to the down tube were the side rails attach is the front point of the seat "load" point. The 2 straps that goes from the bottom of the rear of the seat to the axle are the rear "load" point. The straps that wrap the side rails are not support straps, only hold the seat In place. The bottom ones support your weight. If one of the rear axle straps are damaged the seat will not last as long as it should if it was supported correctly.
I found out from buggy bags and libre after ha ring to replace a few that were not installed correctly.

Flexi buggies used to come with a small tube of Copaslip which is a copper infused grease. Metals can sometimes galvanically weld themselves together and this stuff prevents it. A little goes a long way. Mainly for axle bolt threads going into the axle.

eric67m - 18-12-2015 at 05:49 PM

The strap sounds like it is not the load strap. On the left side you can see where I twisted the strap between the side rail and the axle.

Jeff, that would be great if we could sew a new one on. Shall i pick up a new simular sized set from REI?

In regards to lube, i have Triflo drip , wd40, wheel bearing greases, silver anti seize, etc....

I'm not seeing how some of you are "quoting" each other. What is the trick to that and larger pictures?

bigkid - 18-12-2015 at 08:11 PM

Pick up one at rei or I may have one.
Copper anti-seize is what we used in building nuclear power plants when I was working at Hanford.

Silver anti-seize would be the choice there. It's anti-seize you want.

bigkid - 19-12-2015 at 09:52 AM

Bit of a read but great info about anti-seize materials,

KiteBit - 19-12-2015 at 11:04 AM

Please keep in mind I'm not very mechanically inclined...

1. I had a similar issue with the side strap 180-out. It latched for me this way so the only impact I could see was the excess strap would hang down instead of laying on top. I too went through the exercise of trying to flip the clip. Am I missing something? I'll try not to tighten it too much.

2. I had a hell of a time installing the side rails into the rear axle. I finally used a bit of silicone lube--and a rubber mallet. I doubt they're ever coming apart again. :-)

3. There must be some trick to installing the second spacer on the front wheel rim. It took a lot of "finesse" for me to start wedging the spacer between the fork and the wheel, then tap the spacer into position to line up with the bolt (while holding a finger inside the spacer and the wheel to keep the wheel bearing spacer lined up).

4. I'm still not clear on the proper way to tighten the rear wheel axle bolts. The instructions say to lightly tighten the nut, then after the wheel is bolted onto the rear axle, they say to tighten the nut onto the rear axle. Do I then tighten the nut against the wheel (and tighten the bolt again)? Or what? I guess the question is what does "lightly tighten" mean?

It sounds like I should use some anti-seize on the rear axle bolt threads? Flexifoil says the bolts are "hi-tensile steel (not stainless). This is because stainless steel bolts, when screwed into the stainless steel frame, can lock up making them unremovable." That said, should I still remove them and use anti-seize?

Now I can't wait for some wind...and the rain to let up. We've had record rain for December with plenty more coming. I'm a web-foot but geez...

I have a flexifoil buggy and love it....Call me if you want on my cell and I can talk you through some details/helpful hints....rather than go back and forth on here for days....especially with holidays coming .....

Bolt, anti seize cream, straps....I can see from one of the pics you already have one on wrong....I will U2U my cell number....can't put it on here as I will be getting heavy breathing calls at 1am asking about flexi blades...

Must be an older generation thing... Mine prefers to send innappropriate pictures, not heavy breathing... Like um....

It sounds like I'm not the only one, possibly a batch of seats got made this way.

I realized in looking at my picture that the right side is only looped once around the side rail. I'll fix that when I replace the buckle.

I was thinking about anti seize, if i get any on the carpet the buggy won't be allowed in the living room anymore...

Love the zip tie buckle repair...just pulled it off on my ski pants

I wish other manufactures would do a sale like this. Like liber or exterme on the basixx model. Now i am mad at myself for not getting a flexi

I agree. I wish I could have snatched one of these up.

eric67m - 21-12-2015 at 09:55 AM

I was happy when my wife said "go ahead and order it", she knew i had been looking for a buggy for a while. I jumped right on it. Even had to call the bank because they were worried about over seas purchases. Glad I did it.

eric67m - 26-1-2016 at 02:43 PM

Just to put a final note to this thread.

I bought and received the buggy just before the Christmas. Right around Christmas the flexifoil company sent me an email asking to review my buggy. I mentioned everything that I did here, quick shipping and that I had some problem with my buckle being flipped and getting broken.

Just after the new year, Peter from flexifoil contacted me about the broken buckle. He sent out an additional replacement seat that I received about a week later. The buckle still seems flipped to me but it makes the buggy now usable. I want to say that flexifoil and Peter did a great job with customer service. I am extremely happy with the way everything was handled.

Just thought I would put this out there:
If any of you that purchased the Navaro don't feel like keeping it, I am in the market for one so send me a note.
I am a very motivated buyer :)
