Coyote Rollerblades - FOUND

I'm curious if anybody has an old pair of Coyote Rollerblades laying around that they don't intend to use anymore. I could be interested in buying just the frames and wheels, not the boots. I'd want to figure out if I could mount the frames on my existing Seba skate boots (I think I can, but am not 100% sure). Thanks in advance - your trash could be my treasure!





Yes, I know the picture above is a custom 2-wheel 200mm setup. Factory stock came with three, 150mm pneumatic tires.

Crazy video and an even crazier guy! Thanks for the post. I came across that video on YouTube with off-rode skating searchers when I was researching these things a couple of months agao. No, I don't intend to try and beat or even match his record on stairs! :o

I'm still in the "hope this works" stage of things in terms of bolting the Coyote frames and wheels onto my Seba skates. I'll make it work somehow even if I need to design an interface plate to get things to match up.

I'm not worried at all about the increased weight penalty that comes with the Coyote frames. Yes, the Powerslide frames are super light, but so what for kiting? The increased weight may even work out to be a net improvement for my application.

The grass I want to use these on are a series of athletic fields around town. Long, natural grass that is well irrigated. I suspect the 150mm Coyote wheels will provide better ride than the 125mm SUVs.

I'm heading down to IBX in about two weeks. I know the SUVs will work fine on that hard pack. Hopefully my Coyotes will be here and set up by then so I can do a comparison.

This whole kite skating thing seems to be a super small cult here on PKF and on XK in Australia. Like PKF and XK weren't already Cult-ish, here seems to be a sub-Cult! :D

Great news about the slotted frames - exactly what I was hoping to find!!!! Thanks for letting me know this Phree. I have four 150mm tires that came with the XC Path frames that I can probably use as backup for the Coyote wheels. I don't see myself using those frames too much because of the inability to carve a turn with that set up. Time will tell with all this. I'll post pictures once everything gets set up. :D

Why should I be any different? :karate: I've got a full helmet with chin protrusion (motorcycle helmet), wrist guards, elbow guards, knee guards, and hockey girdle specially designed for street hockey. Nothing for the shoulders at this point; clearly I'll have to have the wits to fall in such a way to avoid pile driving my shoulders into the ground.

No worries, I knew you were just horsing. The thing with the artificial surface fields are the obstacles all around them and their size. They have lighting, flag poles, fencing, goal posts, you name it. Not much room to maneuver really. I just wanted to skate on them first to make at least the surface predictable.

I got out on one of our grass fields late last week and skated a bit before trying out my new buggy upgrade. Heck with the mowing irregularities and even the gopher and vole holes, how about the countless door prizes left by the dozens or scores of deer, elk, and moose from their grazing? Now those are obstacles! :evil:

I guess there is nothing to match the combination of Coyotes Wheel size and relatively short and maneuverable wheel base length. And this -relative to what's available and for versatility to go on grass fields, dirt roads , beach hard pack- may just be the best all around sizing set up for kiting.

I don't think trying the PL Metropolis SUV's with their smaller wheels on the beach hardpack will yield any improvement(except fit) over the coyotes but will instead have more rolling resistance.

I can't return them after trying...only could resell on used market and for a lo$$...so having 2nd thoughts to not bother. I was looking for a more comfortable fit, mostly. We'll see..

If only The Metropolis SUV had the Coyote size wheels.. Drat!

Skim - reading your note just now I'm not clear if you are having "buyers remorse" having already purchased some PS SUVs (with 125m wheels) or if you ar simply having second thoughts about possibly purchasing them.

I'll know in about a week or so if my theory pays off, but one way to go is to get comfortable skating boots and then bolt coyote frames underneath them. I just bought used Coyotes on EBay with no concern for the boot size since I only want them for their bases.

I suspect that the SUZ wheels are both too small in diameter and width to be smooth rollers on beach sand. Maybe really hard boilerplate sand, but not anything that your feet could sink into even a little bit. For me I'm interested in wheels that roll with little impunity on mowed grass and the Ivanpah playa. The latter is very hard and pretty smooth so I don't think it will be the problem. The problem is thick plush gras that isn't cut as short as I'd like it to be (what are those groundskeepers thinking?).

I'll take photos of everything once I get things coming together. Hopefully in about a week.

Thick wet spring time grass is the worst. Always feels like I'm stuck in mud in the buggy until I get moving decent and even then If there is a momentary lapse in wind then I come to a stop. Poor field conditions is what got me kiting asphalt. I absolutely dispise thick turf that's on the verge of needing mowed which describes my field conditions until July. Don't get me wrong, I'll still be out there.
