looking to buy 19 meter or larger twin skin

Wind_dog - 2-11-2016 at 06:12 PM

Seriously ???
You have got to be kidding us.

hiaguy - 2-11-2016 at 06:48 PM

Gentlemen, he's obviously got something in mind - give him a break and be respectful.

@lp - the big arcs are kinda' like hens teeth: rare, and hard to extract if you find one. You're obviously looking for big. If you give us an idea of your end game, perhaps there's an option that you haven't considered. (feel free to U2U me if you'd prefer)

lp000028 - 2-11-2016 at 06:48 PM

i know trying to buy a kite from someone thats not trying to scam you, crazy concept .

abkayak - 2-11-2016 at 07:12 PM

Try ebay

Wind_dog - 2-11-2016 at 07:19 PM

Options I suggest:
1) Buy a new kite from a retail source.
2) Find another outlet to make a used kite purchase (ebay, etc)

I think you lost some good will from many of us by asking,
then not listening,
then disrespecting our family members.

lp000028 - 2-11-2016 at 08:36 PM

i will take my chances i'm sure there's some rational people on here.

MotoFoo86 - 2-11-2016 at 08:59 PM

There are, rational enough not to sell you that kind of Kite. I am however kind enough to attempt to see if there are any available through my other sources. Which of course at the moment there aren't. Good luck to y

soliver - 3-11-2016 at 07:54 PM

hiaguy is on the right track, we'd like to offer you help, so if you can tell us what you want to do, we can either confirm what you are thinking or offer you a better suggestion. Knowing your skill level as well will open up a level of confidence in whether or not this is the right track for you. What's your endgame? A kite of this size is NOT a kite for the beginner or novice kiter.

I honestly want to know why you want or need a kite of this size for? What do you plan to do with it? What experience do you have within the sport?

No one wants to scam you... we just want to know what you're thinking. You have an army here of very experienced people ready and willing to help you. So if you can drop caution flags and turn off the alarm bells, you'll be able to hear that and listen to the help we are ready to give.

If YOU don't offer up anything, there is very little likelihood that anyone else will offer up anything, especially not a 19m+ sized kite

And for the record, all kites dubbed with the label "Twin Skin" are or were manufactured by Peter Lynn and are frequently referred to as "Arcs"... this is common knowledge in the kiting community. SO when you ask whether you should get either a "Twin Skin" or a "Peter Lynn Kite," you are basically asking whether you should get a "Peter Lynn Kite" or a "Peter Lynn Kite"... I'm not trying to be a smart Alec, just pointing this out so that you understand that this is a red flag that says to many of us that you may not have much (if any) experience,... in which case, a 19m+ sized kite is a big whomping NO NO for you. (and probably why the deal fell through with your last attempted purchase).

We really DO want to help you, so please let us. Otherwise you really DO risk serious injury or worse.

lp000028 - 3-11-2016 at 11:53 PM

the largest kite i have is a fly surfer 19m speed 2. i got this under control.

OffAxis - 4-11-2016 at 05:35 AM

Acquiring kites is easy. Flying them and being safe about it is on a whole different level.

gemini6kl - 4-11-2016 at 07:50 AM

A 19m speed probally has the same power as a 24 meter twin skin as twinskins are 2 to 3 sizes dwn in power compared to foils and also probally slower than the flysurfer speed. if u looking for more power in lighter wind a 21m flysurfer speed might be your best bet. and im thinking this is for the water like kitesurfing or on snow fir snowkiting right cause 21 or 24m kites dont make good low wind engines on land as they are super slow in light wind and will overpwr u quickly with decent wind on land.

that's what I was thinking as well - big arcs are actually slow and gentle to fly, I'd be more concerned flying a fixed bridle above an 9m compared to a 19-22m arc - but still not a kite for a beginner by any means.

soliver - 4-11-2016 at 08:07 AM

I tried... I'm out

Thanks for the email Jeff.

BeamerBob - 4-11-2016 at 08:40 AM

Continuing to disrespect most of the folks on here as well as a payment practice that has worked fine here for us for a decade or more is not a good way to be treated with widespread respect. I have a ~24m arc and if I was willing to sell it, I would be reluctant to enter into a deal with you. You can fix your relationship with the great people that make up this community, but so far you're doing it wrong for the most part.

lp000028 - 4-11-2016 at 03:06 PM

disrespecting most of the folks on here ,wait i was trying to disrespect everybody, who did i miss ?

^^^^^^^  ^^^^^^^

Arcs / Twin skins don't like winds under 5mph. No matter what size! :duh: THAT is what our 19m Speed's are for.

( P.S. I am simply feeding the troll because there is no wind to play with. )

bigkid - 4-11-2016 at 03:57 PM

Hey Lyn, I think you would be better off looking on eBay or CL where no one knows who you are.
I hope the best for you and hope you find what your looking for. I don't believe you will get what you need here.
Good luck.

lp000028 - 4-11-2016 at 05:31 PM

i feel like i'm in a job interview beings questioned about my past history in kiting skills . no sir you don't qualify to fly a kite that size ,we are terribly sorry. LOL

Blitzhound - 4-11-2016 at 10:14 PM

This isn't Walmart or EBay. You are trying to buy a very potentially dangerous kite from a stranger as a stranger. Anyone that owns a kite like this knows exactly how badly someone could get hurt or even killed. Especially in the hands of a novice. If I sold my 16m Venom to a newbie and they got hurt or worse. I would feel responsible, and rightly so. Selling a kite like that to a novice would be very irresponsible on my part. The questions aren't meant to be a job interview. People are simply trying to be a responsible seller and in the process maybe not get someone hurt. If you truly own and fly a 19m FS Speed. Then you know exactly what I'm talking about and you know and understand just how dangerous these things are.

B-Roc - 5-11-2016 at 03:42 AM

It's a free market and the seller sets the terms and conditions. If you don't like the way PKF and its members operate, feel free to leave.

Believe it or not, despite your best efforts, most of us are willing to help. What we are desperately trying to avoid, is you getting hurt by flying a kite outside your skill range.. What we are trying to avoid EVEN more, and selfishly so, is you getting hurt, capturing it on your GoPro, posting it to YouTube and our entire hobby paying the price by getting more of our favorite venues closed using you video as an excuse of what those crazy kiters do.. It's NOT personal (for most of us) it's simply, we want to welcome you into the sport the right way and supply you with the equipment most appropriate for you. We take a huge level of personal interest in kites we sell and own.

We often get newbies trying to find large kites to go kite jumping.. Despite all the glamour and showmanship of kite jumping, it is NOT EVER where you start..

Kicking in the door at PowerKiteForum and slamming one of our trusted members was a heck of an introduction.. Despite that, several folks are reaching out and trying to connect with what you want.. It's not a job interview but it is learning the secret handshake of trust..

Be square with us on your skill level and your end goal. 99% of us will steer you in the right direction. I personally won't advise you on a depower kite since that's not what I fly. I'll defer that advice to those forum members that do.

Heck, there's probably a few of us that would still meet up with you somewhere and fly with you using OUR kites to help you in making the decision that right for you.

Bladerunner - 5-11-2016 at 12:40 PM

It is just possible that a few folks on here don't think they are being Scammed by your advert / poll and are trying to figure out why on earth you are so desperate for a Monster arc. There are many good reasons that these big old arcs are so hard to find. They may be wanting to offer you something that you don't want... advice!

Personally as an owner / operator of large arcs and a 19m Speed 2 I would be looking to upgrade the year / model of my Speed. Arcs are too inificient in very low winds.

I find myself wondering if you are unable to create a credible history or reason for needing this kite? With SO much experience it seems strange you have never met any of us or have a crew that can help you find an arc. You aren't the 1st troll to visit and won't be the last. If it hadn't rained 34 of the last 37 days I wouldn't be so bored as to entertain you.

Cheeks - 5-11-2016 at 12:59 PM

Have a blimp I used to fly in arenas with advertising on both sides. It's got a twin skin. Would this work for you?:D

PS I have a 16 lei 1 skin I'd sell cheap. Just add a 3m anything and your there!

There you go!

OffAxis - 14-11-2016 at 05:14 AM

Why would someone want an Arc this big now days? Haven't they been superseded by Flysurfers 20m Speeds?
