If you've buggy'd this year; post here.eric67m - 6-6-2019 at 09:56 PM
Last week was SOBB in oregon.
I am looking forward to many more trips out to Ocean Shores on the Washington coast this summer. Windstruck - 6-6-2019 at 10:39 PM
IBX 2019. Hope to make it to Fall SOBB for second year in a row.Ed Cline - 7-6-2019 at 03:15 AM
I lost the gravel field.
Bumping around on the rough grass.
I'll overcome and keep looking for a field.

Any pics of your rough grass riding area?Randy - 7-6-2019 at 05:41 AM
I've ridden a lot this year, at the Fairgrounds - a big grass field, a parking lot by our lake and of course at JIBE. After JIBE I switch to water
sports - this year mostly windsurfing. Will do that till fall when I switch back to buggy. ColinW - 7-6-2019 at 07:50 AM
IBX and SOBB!
Oh ya!Demoknight - 7-6-2019 at 07:56 AM
I went to JIBE, made a few expeditions to the fishing pier in the North of the island and back to Kite Beach. I didn't ever go all the way to the
South water tower this year though. Beach conditions weren't super conducive to heading South.Wind_dog - 7-6-2019 at 08:01 AM
IBX, Pre-SOBB, Spring SOBB and a local playa day so far.
Looking forward to Fall SOBB, ABE and more days on the beach and playas. Ed Cline - 7-6-2019 at 12:07 PM
Here's a couple. Since the park was turned over to the city, they've started having music events, 40,000 people and their vehicles have ruined it
pretty good.
The new midis will help.
Bladerunner - 7-6-2019 at 12:31 PM
Still buggy, blade, board and snowkite. Spring SOBB was the last time.
Waiting to see if we can kite at Garry Point this summer. bugymangp - 7-6-2019 at 02:55 PM
I buggyed at wbb for 6 days in a row Blitzhound - 7-6-2019 at 05:19 PM
I buggy on the daily...if I'm not at work. I'm buggyin. I work 4 months a year. southpadreburt - 7-6-2019 at 07:19 PM
I buggy multiple times per month and all months of the year. Great activity for when the wind direction is not good for windsurfing or foiling. Jason-G - 8-6-2019 at 03:52 AM
I have been riding the buggy a lot since I moved from Oklahoma to N. Myrtle beach about a year and a half ago. Almost any time the wind is good and
the tide is low or close to low. Much nicer on sand with clean wind compared to the wheat field.
I plan to start trying to figure out how to successfully ride my mountain board now too.
Off the topic - what is the cheapest way to determine how fast one is going in a buggy. My phone does not have GPS. The other day I was flying my 4m
ozone dp prototype I bought off this forum. I think it is like an access. I was going really smooth with the kite parked and the bar halfway and
then I lowered the kite a little and sheeted all the way in and felt a real boost in speed. I would be curious how fast I was going.

i just got back into buggying this year... sad to see that it seems like its dying in the US... i hope theres always a group of folks doing it,
though, and it seems like there might be... sand flea - 8-6-2019 at 02:07 PM
I buggy 30 to 40 days a yearPablo - 8-6-2019 at 03:51 PM
Just finished unloading the car, kites/buggy hosed off in the front yard drying. Video of the son out at Mud Bay here.
I lost my best grass field to a parking lot. Since then I haven't been out much. There isn't many options in Wisconsin. Trees and lakes abound in
our state. I actually have more options ice buggying on the lakes in winter.Pablo - 16-6-2019 at 12:50 PM
Out looking for new spots to fly out in the wind tunnel known as Abbotsford. No luck only found farm land. Heading back out to mud bay today and
working on a deal for another low wind sail to ensure never getting skunked.Chook - 16-6-2019 at 08:34 PM
Yes I love wind powered sports. I kite buggy and land sail (pole dance)
I drive 2,600kms to Kingston South East, over in South Australia in January and covered 1,132kms kiting in the 12 days I was there.
I fly over to Yeppoon in Queensland every Easter for a just over a month and I did 5,734kms in my kite buggy along the beach this trip.
I have covered over 10,000kms "wind powered" each year for the last 4 years. Last year I got to 13,240kms. I'm up to a logged (Suunto GPS watch and
Garmin 10) 9,321kms so far this year.

All right buggy people. I want to know who is still buggying on the regular? khaakon - 26-6-2021 at 03:56 AM
I've been out kitebuggying in Oslo, Norway - 1 time in April, and 2 times in 1 week just recently. Hope to get more time during the next month.
Sry for not posting details about the Sysmic S3. (it's quite OK)Randy - 26-6-2021 at 04:37 AM
I buggy during my "buggy season" from November till March. Dates aren't exact but depends on when it is no long warm enough to windsurf. Then there
is also my annual trip to Jekyll in May. Been doing it that way since I started with buggy back in 2016.Jason-G - 26-6-2021 at 07:16 AM
I still buggy on a regular basis since I moved from Woodward OK to North Myrtle Beach SC 3yr ago. When the wind is on shore and the tide is low I
normally go to Cherry Grove Point.
If you go to the site above and take control of the camera, you can select Cherry grove point view. It is very distorted in terms of length/width
point of view. If conditions are good, you may see me.
Jason RedSky - 26-6-2021 at 02:58 PM
Not once so far this year because of lockdowns. I made one attempt to buggy in May but the bar setup was all wrong and I had no choice but to go home.
Good news is, I bought a brand new bug. Should be here soon. :D
How about you rtz?rtz - 26-6-2021 at 04:06 PM

At that particular spot; any kite restrictions? Is the beach usually to crowded to get up and down? How often is the wind lined up right with the
shoreline? Get enough wind to buggy often? Is the tide a factor there?rtz - 26-6-2021 at 04:08 PM
We are in the hot humid no wind summer now. So I have 2 solid months to wait out waiting for the first cool days in September to start back up again. Randy - 27-6-2021 at 05:08 AM
This time of year is not the windy season here or in many parts of the country. We did have a pretty good turnout at JIBE including a number of
young, new riders.
Cherry Point North Myrtle Beach
Jason-G - 27-6-2021 at 10:57 AM
So far no restrictions I know of. The beach police ride by often and don't seem to mind. From around low tide to 1-2hr after low tide the area is
pretty good. Most beach goers don't walk way out there to pick a spot and at low tide there is no soft sand out there. Sometimes people pick a spot
that is kinda in my way. When the wind is SSW (very common in the summer) or SSE I usually go (10 min drive from my house). In the winter it is very
empty but the wind is usually from the north which is not to good. Even when conditions are ideal I am limited by a pier on one side and an inlet
(water) on the other side. I would guess the distance is about a 1/4 mile.
A couple of weeks ago, a rare combination of events occurred (low tide, early, beach not crowded yet, and a good onshore wind). I was able to ride
south of the two cherry grove piers and was able to ride about 2-3 mi stretches of the beach until it got too crowded.
I see quite a few water kiters setup their kites on crowded beaches. So far the police don't seem to mind and everyone I have seen so far knew what
they were doing but it seems risky to me. I have the equipment to kite on the water and a guy who rides at the point is willing to help. So far I am
still chicken.
Anybody ever kite using a SUP board? I plan to learn to SUP for exercise and have seen some youtube vids of people using a kite?
Jasonjeffnyc - 27-6-2021 at 01:29 PM
Forget the SUP, unless you intend on wing foiling. You will have trouble holding an edge and staying upwind, and they are far too cumbersome to turn.
Get a kite specific surfboard - they are smaller and reinforced - you will beat the crap out of a normal surfboard. Or just get a kiteboard. If you
are just learning in water, get something wide and not too much rocker. A light wind board (tall, flat wide) will get you riding all summer. Take your
friend up on his offer, water is a blast, and gets you kiting 1000 percent more. Good luck!

I have a cabrinha prodigy 148 kite board (never used) and a cabrinha switchblade 10m, never flown. I think they are now about 8 yr old. An old
college friend who now runs Jupiter Kite shop in FL hooked me up with the deal. I thought I could learn on Ft. Supply Lake just outside of town
(Woodward OK). Is this board the kind you describe?
I also have a Peter Lynn water foil 2.6 kite that can be relaunched from water. It produces pretty good power. I was thinking of trying it in the
water for body dragging. I also have a peter lynn sarc860 (never flown) and I made my own bar setup so I am not sure how/if it will fly well. It too
is supposed to be water friendly?

Still Blowin In The Wind at Balloon Fiesta Park.jantie - 28-6-2021 at 06:58 AM
My aim is twice a month for 2-3 hours at a time (due to physical limitations.)
And I must say that despite CoviD-19 the wheater has been nice for me
in 2020 and 2021 I've been out on that average...
jeffnyc - 28-6-2021 at 04:03 PM
Jason - your board should be fine - I think it's about a 42 width? It will probably be heavier than more modern boards (which only matters if you're
carrying it or jumping). I would think for summer you want a bigger kite (or a bigger light wind board) - 10m is for @15-25 knots. Depends on your
weight as well. You need a lot more power on water than on land. Supposed to be a great kite, haven't tried. The 10m would be fine for body dragging
if there's enough wind to keep it up. Not sure I would use the sarc until you know what you're doing. We should probably move this to another thread
if you want to ask more questions. Lots of folks are on water as well as land here.southpadreburt - 29-6-2021 at 07:12 AM
I buggy whenever the wind is Easterly and too low for windsurfing. Retired and wind controls my life.rtz - 28-3-2022 at 10:13 AM
