MBS Comp 90 Demo for PKF members

SecondWind - 31-10-2007 at 01:37 PM

I have a new MBS Comp 90 that I'm ready to loan out as a demo.

http://www.mbs.com/productcart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idProduct=182

I'll be sending the board out to Gui this week and after he's finished trying it out, he can ship it off (at his expense) to the next person in line. After that person is done, they ship (and pay for shipping) it out to the next in line - just like the Pansh and Brooza program.

(Shipping within the US with insurance runs about $25)

Thanks!

Joe

Gui - 31-10-2007 at 07:33 PM

How long can we keep that Board :-)

SecondWind - 31-10-2007 at 07:59 PM

I figure after 2 - 3 good sessions, you should probably have a feel for the board.

That seems to be the same time that the Pansh, Brooza and Blade stayed at each stop (about a week long).

Sound good?

Gui - 1-11-2007 at 04:29 AM

Sounds good to me !

So anybody else is interested ?

Who's gonna be the next one ? :singing:

speleopower - 1-11-2007 at 05:50 PM

I'd like to get on that list if possible. I'm looking for a lighter weight board than my Flexifoil Kava.

I weigh 200 pounds. Is that ok for the board?
Scott

SecondWind - 1-11-2007 at 05:59 PM

Hey Scott,

No problem - the Comp 90 is pretty stiff. It will be fine for your weight.

I just finished packing it up and I'll be shipping it out to Gui in the morning!

4.

speleopower - 1-11-2007 at 06:03 PM

Cool. I've got a feeling I'm not going to get any good riding conditions for quite sometime but I'd like to give the board a try at least. Maybe just ride down a small hill (aka road embankment). I need east wind and low tide to ride ATBs around here.

After the storm gets through with us there might not be much beach left!

Scott

Gui - 1-11-2007 at 06:35 PM

Hey Scott

PM me your address.

It will be interesting to post some review after the demo :-)

gerd1022 - 2-11-2007 at 06:31 AM

so ive never tried landboarding, but am proficient in the buggy, and am looking into getting a landboard...

also, my 10m frenzy is coming hopefully today... so i was wondering if i could try this board out? if not due to lack of experience i understand...

SecondWind - 2-11-2007 at 06:15 PM

Sure thing gerd. We'll add you to the list!

This way you can see if you like it before going out and buying a board.

1. Gui
2. Speleopower
3. gerd1022
4.

SecondWind - 2-11-2007 at 06:28 PM

Gui - the board is on the way. I'll shoot you a U2U with the shipping info.

Enjoy,

Joe

Gui - 2-11-2007 at 08:13 PM

Great ! :singing:

I'll post some pics of the demo if I can.

Scott I got your address, I'll pm you before I send it.

Cheers guys

gerd1022 - 3-11-2007 at 10:56 AM

hey thanks a lot!

i cant wait...

Gui - 10-11-2007 at 08:36 AM

Hey guys,

I received the board on Friday.

Gonna go try that sweet little thing in a few hours :-)

Sthrasher38 - 10-11-2007 at 02:06 PM

I would like to be fourth DaVinch! My other one is broke. Darn kids Some how cracked the board I don't trust it anymore. So if I like it it may not make it back home if the price is right.:saint: Just looked a that one very nice! The one I have I got cheap very well used so it doesn't even compare. Everyone is excited to be able to try a new one! Once again This forum and the people on it are so cool. I have got to try out so many different varieties of kites and stuff I don't know how much money I have saved And it really helps to get what you want the first time. So yes 4th on the list please.:borg:

SecondWind - 10-11-2007 at 02:53 PM

Sure thing Sthrasher

1. Gui
2. Speleopower
3. gerd1022
4. Sthrasher

Sthrasher38 - 10-11-2007 at 04:21 PM

Yes! Thanks.

speleopower - 10-11-2007 at 07:27 PM

Gui-How did the board ride?

Scott

Gui - 11-11-2007 at 09:28 AM

No wind  so I did some tow boarding
IMO It seems to be a good board. It's really easy to control.
but again I didn't had any riding with the kite.

Looking forward to get some wind :cool2:

What is your guys low end with a landboard ? (and on soft sand:)

speleopower - 11-11-2007 at 09:22 PM

Bummer about no wind. Hope it picks up for you.

I can only ride on hardpack sand on the beach. Low end is around 5 mph wind with a Blade III 10.5.

Scott

Sthrasher38 - 16-11-2007 at 07:06 PM

What is the status on the Board do you like it? spelo are you ready to try? I know I am.:borg:

speleopower - 16-11-2007 at 11:03 PM

I don't think there has been any wind here in Florida for Gui to try the board out yet. He mentioned he would mail it out just after T-day weekend.
I am looking forward to trying a lighter weight, shorter board than my Flexi Kava.
The only thing that is worrying me is it is so light compared to my Kava I might be tempted to do more jumps....:puzzled:

Unfortunately landboarding season is over in Florida. There is occasional good days but not many. I might not get a chance to even ride it while it is with me:no:

Scott

Gui - 17-11-2007 at 07:26 AM

Hey guys,

Still have the board...
I haven't ride it yet :(
I will send it to speleo after T-day. Hopefully I'll get a chance by then.

-Gui

SecondWind - 23-11-2007 at 09:15 PM

Did you get a chance to try out the board Gui?

speleopower - 25-11-2007 at 08:40 AM

I've not heard from Gui yet but it's barely after T-day. Yesterday I had fun (barely 7mphish wind) on my landboard then the wind died and I had to walk home.

Scott

Gui - 26-11-2007 at 04:59 PM

Hello guys,

I'm back :-)
Got to ride my kiteboard but didn't landboard much... my area is lacking of landboarding spot.
Small beaches and small tide....
However I'll have to try later in an other location....
I would like to thanks DaVinch for the demo !
I have send the board to you Speleopower.
You should get it soon.
Have fun.

May the Wind be with you !

SecondWind - 26-11-2007 at 05:48 PM

No problem Gui - I'm glad you got to ride it some before sending it on.

speleopower - 26-11-2007 at 08:02 PM

Gui-maybe the wind will cooperate this weekend and you can cruise over here. Low tide this coming Saturday is at 0.7 feet which is good and occurs at 7:00am and then around 7:00pm. The lowest low tide around here is around -0.7 feet it doesn't get much better than 0.7. Night riding is no problem over here as well. If the weather holds there is a good possibility of east winds this weekend and during the later part of the week.

See ya-Scott

Gui - 29-11-2007 at 06:14 PM

Hey Scott

Yea I did ride it once on a sandy beach but I think the sand was a little to soft....
I wish I could come this we but unfortunately I'll be busy....
Hopefully I'll have a little more time in December
Did you received the board yet ?
How do you like it ?

Give us a review sooooon !

MBS Comp 90 demo

speleopower - 1-12-2007 at 08:25 AM

I picked up the MBS Comp 90 this morning and have it all setup to ride. Just gotta wait for the wind to change directions. The forecast is for east winds tomorrow. If it's not east wind I'll go find a hill somewhere:puzzled: Not as easy as it sounds around here.

The board looks good but I've got a feeling the tires are going to be to small for the beach. It's also not a cruiser type board from it's looks compared to my Flexifoil Kava. The Kava looks comfortable to ride while the MBS looks like it will be a bit more stressfull to ride.

This is the first board I've had with the ratchet type bindings. I don't know if they are going to work for me. I don't wear shoes while riding on the beach. I tried getting the bindings go get small but I couldn't get them as small as I would like. I will probably have to wear a pair of shoes with this board.

The next person in line is going to have a greasy board to deal with. I have to cover all metal parts in WD40 and thick waterproof grease to have the board survive on the beach. I've learned this the hard way living next to the beach for almost 10 years. Everything has to be covered in grease. I've learned to deal with it. Just grease it up after every ride and your good to go, hence the WD40 cans.

I can't wait to try the board.

gerd1022 - 1-12-2007 at 08:51 AM

i hope the wind treats you right, cause i cant wait... greasy board or not. i just hope i get a chance before snow... it will be close, we might get a big storm tomorrow.

speleopower - 1-12-2007 at 09:36 AM

It's just a lot of grease all over the bearings and other truck parts that rust easily. I then spray WD40 all over the metal parts of the trucks. There's nothing worse than frozen bearings due to rust. That's what happened the first time I took my Kava out to ride. I rode it one day hosed it off and went to ride it a couple days later and the bearings wouldn't move!!! I usually end up in the water at least once when a small wave washes up and gets me.

Scott

SecondWind - 1-12-2007 at 10:00 AM

Spele - what size tires are on your Kava?

speleopower - 1-12-2007 at 08:08 PM

Kava tires are about 8.5" diameter and about 2.5" wide.

The wind is not going to be good tomorrow. I might get skunked and not get a chance to use the board!!! However, I"m going to Ocala in north central Florida next weekend and can probably find a hill or 2 to play on.

Scott

gerd1022 - 4-12-2007 at 12:23 PM

hmm.... the snow around here looks like it may be here to stay, or at least will probably stay when i would have the board... is mountain boarding on thin (1-2in) snow any good?

if not, i would say just skip me on the list because there isnt really anywhere i could use it. although i still wanna see it... hmm...

speleopower - 4-12-2007 at 04:31 PM

Well, it's not looking good for me anytime soon. The wind is very very dead and not looking good anytime soon. :puzzled: Where's the wind!
I am taking the board up to north central FL and hopefully get some trail riding in.

Scott

Gui - 4-12-2007 at 06:20 PM

Yea this is really weird we where suppose to get some good wind with this cold front and finally not even 15kts ?!? WHERE IS THE WIND !?!?

speleopower - 7-12-2007 at 07:39 AM

Still no wind!!!!! I am leaving in a while and hope to at least find a hill worth riding on this weekend.

Scott

speleopower - 9-12-2007 at 11:13 AM

We are extreme! There has not been a drop of wind and the place I went to in North Central Florida had no hills.
This is the best hill I can come up with locally:spin: Hold on to your hats it's pretty sick.

Later-Scott

speleopower - 9-12-2007 at 11:14 AM

Another from the sick-o-hill.

Ron Jon Surf Shop is just out of the picture behind the tree-they don't sell mountain boards.

IMG_0593.JPG - 82kB

speleopower - 9-12-2007 at 11:17 AM

Seriously don't laugh...it's the biggest hill within a 5 mile radius of my house. We could possibly ride down a bridge embankment and run into the lagoon or hit a concrete retaining wall. I figured I'd take it easy on my first session and tackle the retaining walls later.:P

I'll send the board out to the next person on the list in a few days...unless they don't mind if I hold onto the board till next weekend. There might be some wind next weekend.

My friend pulled a sick 360 spinner at the bottom of the hill (he's a pro skateboarder). I tried pulling a spinner going from switch stance to my normal left foot forward stance but I wiped out. All is good that ends with a wipeout.

gerd1022 - 9-12-2007 at 04:00 PM

feel free to keep it this weekend... i would like to get it before the weekend after that if possible. i sent you my address thru u2u awhile ago, let me know if you need it again

speleopower - 9-12-2007 at 05:12 PM

Ok, I'll try again next weekend. I do have your address and will mail the board next Monday or Tuesday for you. If the weather looks like the wind will be dead next weekend I'll get the board out on Friday or Saturday this week. What a bummer the wind has been the last couple of weeks.

See ya-Scott

Sthrasher38 - 9-12-2007 at 05:35 PM

gerd, I will send you my address also. Please let me know when you get it. Thanks. Thanks again Da Vinch.

speleopower - 13-12-2007 at 05:12 PM

Problem is I have to have straight East wind for ATB riding.

But I hope I can do some ATB riding.

See ya-Scott

Sthrasher38 - 15-12-2007 at 05:15 PM

Gerd did you get the board yet? Let me know when you are going to send it my way. Thanks.

gerd1022 - 15-12-2007 at 05:22 PM

nope havent gotten it, i was under the impression that speleopower was going to try and get a chance on it this weekend, and send it to me after that.

i wont keep it for that long, because we have quite a bit of snow by now, so it will probably be near impossible to use it

it will still be interesting to take a look at it, as ive never even seen a mountain board before! (a little reverse engineering might be in order as well)

Sthrasher38 - 15-12-2007 at 05:34 PM

Alright just let me know when you ship it and try to find a dry hill to ride down at least.

speleopower - 16-12-2007 at 07:36 AM

Hey! This stinks! No wind for 2 weeks and then yesterday was windy but the wrong direction for riding ATBs. Today is now windy and raining but again completely wrong direction.

My plan is to mail the board out tomorrow or Tuesday depending on my work schedule.

The 2 short little hill rides are the only times I got to try the board. It's turned out to be the most expensive 5 seconds of skateboard riding I've ever done. I'm guessing $25-30 dollars to ship priority mail with insurance. That works out to around $15 dollars per 2.5 seconds of riding. Oh, well sometimes you get sometimes you get got. I got skunked this time around in the demos:mad:

Thanks DaVinch for the pass the gear program.
Scott

Sthrasher38 - 16-12-2007 at 07:45 AM

Sorry to hear that spelo. Rain here too.

speleopower - 20-12-2007 at 07:08 AM

I sent the board out to the next person in line earlier this week. I've been really sick this week.:flaming:
Scott

Sthrasher38 - 22-12-2007 at 04:56 PM

Gerd you should have the board soon! Let us know how it goes.

speleopower - 22-12-2007 at 05:01 PM

Board should be the pretty soon. The crappy thing is the wind was good for ATB riding on the beach this afternoon. It's the first ok weather in several weeks for ATBing.
Later-Scott

speleopower - 24-12-2007 at 04:44 PM

Did the board arrive?
Scott

Sthrasher38 - 27-12-2007 at 08:21 AM

Bump gerd did you get the board?

speleopower - 28-12-2007 at 04:25 PM

I was wondering the same thing?? Did the board arrive????
Let us know.
It looks like tomorrow morning will be good for ATBing here in Cocoa Beach.
Scott

Sthrasher38 - 29-12-2007 at 11:52 AM

Gerd do you still have my address to send the board when you are done? Have not heard from you in awhile hope you are ok.:borg:

gerd1022 - 30-12-2007 at 04:12 PM

hi sorry guys the holidays have been crazy for me... i thought i would be able to get the board before i went home for christmas break (from college), so i had the board sent to my school address... unfortunately, it didnt come in time, but fortunately i live close to school and i am going to go up to school tomorrow and will get it.

sorry for the inconvience this may have caused, and i will send it off to sthrasher probably by wednesday, as there is no hope that i will be able to try it (we are supposed to get a bunch more snow tonight!! great for skiing...)

it will still be interesting to see it, so money well spent for shipping, and thanks to davinch for the opportunity.

Sthrasher38 - 31-12-2007 at 08:24 AM

Great! I will be looking forward to that day. The wind is really blowing here right now so that is good. Sorry the Holidays were such a rush for you and you did not get to try the board. Just let me know when it is sent. thanks.:singing:

speleopower - 31-12-2007 at 05:37 PM

Glad the board made it safely!

Wind still have not cooperated for ATB riding here!!! It's been almost 2 months.

Scott

Sthrasher38 - 4-1-2008 at 02:00 PM

Gerd have you sent the board yet? Its friday. Thanks.

Sthrasher38 - 5-1-2008 at 03:39 PM

I was hoping to get it this weekend but I have not heard form gerd yet. Heard from Gerd.

gerd1022 - 5-1-2008 at 04:57 PM

hi guys... got the board... the post office wasn't open first time i tried to get it, but got it today... will send soon, sorry about the delay...

Sthrasher38 - 7-1-2008 at 01:50 PM

No problem on the delay. Just let me know when you send it so I can be on the look out. It gets shipped to my old ladys work so I get it for sure and dont miss ups.Gerd you still have my address right?

gerd1022 - 8-1-2008 at 10:44 AM

yes i do, and i sent it today via ups. i u2ued you the tracking number.

i didnt really get to ride the board at all, due to the snow, but thats ok, it was fun to put together and stand on haha. i am thinking of buying/making one, so it was helpful to at least have one to look at.

i was really surprised (having never even seen a mountain board) by the amount of flex these boards have. when i stood on it, all the curve flattened out...

SecondWind - 8-1-2008 at 03:23 PM

Gerd - sorry to hear that you did not get a chance to use the board.

Maybe winter was not the best time for me to send out a demo mountainboard

Sthrasher38 - 9-1-2008 at 01:39 PM

How about wet and muddy conditions?I try to stay out of the mud but it is pretty wet here right now. I will let you all know when it arrives.:borg:

Sthrasher38 - 14-1-2008 at 06:36 PM

No board yet.:borg:

gerd1022 - 15-1-2008 at 05:34 AM

tracking says it should be delivered today!

Sthrasher38 - 15-1-2008 at 06:10 PM

Lets hope so. My woman is sick and did not go to work today so we will see about tomorrow.Wensday. I will let ya know.

Sthrasher38 - 17-1-2008 at 08:08 AM

I got the Board! Very nice. Thanks DaVinch. I will let ya know how it goes if I get some wind.

SecondWind - 17-1-2008 at 03:38 PM

Great! Let us know how it goes.

Take your time with it,

Joe

Sthrasher38 - 19-1-2008 at 11:38 AM

Very cool board! I am suprised how strong it is. I hope to get some wind soon so I can try it. I don't think it is going to be easy. My kid is the boarder he loves it. This is soon cool of you guys to loan out new toys to try. Thanks DaVinch!

Sthrasher38 - 31-1-2008 at 06:09 PM

26 mph wind today but every thing is so wet. Have not had a chance to use it yet but I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Sthrasher38 - 4-2-2008 at 06:40 PM

Not ready to give it up quite yet Davinch but when I am where is it going next? Kite boarding is a whole new world!

SecondWind - 4-2-2008 at 07:09 PM

Take your time Sthrasher - you are the last one on the list. I have ice/snow here so I will not be using it anytime soon.

Sthrasher38 - 4-2-2008 at 07:17 PM

Cool thanks!

barnes - 9-2-2008 at 04:14 PM

I'm tempted to give it a shot, but don't want to ship something that big. Whats the shipping price come to? You guys just keep using the same box?

I'm trying to decide if I want to save up for a decent board like this one. I'm not happy on my cheapo one, and want to see what is like on a good one.

Let me know about shipping.

Sthrasher38 - 9-2-2008 at 04:43 PM

You will have to ask Gerd1022 about shipping I dont know the cost but I will send it to you if Davinch oS-P-A-M-L-I-N-K-s it.:borg: and yea the same box But it is getting pretty bad But nothing a little packing material and tape cant fix the board is is great shape.

gerd1022 - 11-2-2008 at 01:07 PM

the shipping came to about 30 bucks thru UPS... worth it is you think youre gonna use it ...

speleopower - 12-2-2008 at 04:37 PM

Shipping was around $30-40 with insurance and tracking. I don't remember exactly how much. I do remember it was a bust for me because there was no wind and there are no hills around me.

Scott

Sthrasher38 - 28-2-2008 at 05:39 PM

DaVinch, I will be shipping the board back to you this saturday the 1st. Thanks again for everything. Also put me at the top of the Blade4 6.5 list. If there is one.:saint:

SecondWind - 28-2-2008 at 07:12 PM

Thanks for the update Sthrasher. I'm glad you had the time/good weather to use the board

SecondWind - 3-3-2008 at 04:03 PM
