Some pics of my newest buggy.

c3h5 - 2-12-2007 at 01:54 PM

I saw popeyethewelder posted links to his newest buggy which made me think to post a few of my own.

Sorry I have no catchy name for mine yet, but I’ll take suggestions!

You may need to copy and paste the whole link above.

I will move the photos to my own site once I have time.

ski attachments

c3h5 - 2-12-2007 at 08:04 PM

Hey NPWfever I saw the following in your post

“Also has ski attachments for snow”

Do you have any photos of this?

I’d like to try bugging on the snow as well!

S E X Y!!!

elkiter - 2-12-2007 at 08:37 PM

Nice!

Have you got a chance to ride it yet? Can you tell me what wheels set are those?

e

Pablo - 2-12-2007 at 09:09 PM

yeah, the wheels look killer.

khooke - 2-12-2007 at 11:18 PM

wow, with those wheels you look all set to break the land speed record :wow:

popeyethewelder - 3-12-2007 at 12:12 AM

Looks awesome.....even skull head kite stakes.

Did you make the buggy ?

Origin

c3h5 - 3-12-2007 at 07:13 AM

The parts came from a lot of places.

Believe it or not most was second hand.

Wheels were old red and black motorcycle rims that I polished and painted blue.

Rear axle, side rails and seat were purchased second hand from eBay.

Front fork, foot pegs, swan neck and side rail covers I did purchased new with the help of John Ellis at Kitebuggyspeedshop.com

I only had to construct the new front and rear axle/bearing assembly to work with the new wheels.

DAKITEZ - 3-12-2007 at 10:24 AM

That is one nice buggy. the wheels and tires are extra special. Are those metzler tires? You will have some serious grip if you ride on pavement. Looking at your buggy makes me want to start bulding my own. Excellent job !!

BeamerBob - 3-12-2007 at 11:11 AM

What is going on at the end of the rear axle? It looks like it lowers the axle relative to the center of the wheels. Is that the purpose?

1oldkid - 3-12-2007 at 11:58 AM

Super job, nice work!

elkiter - 3-12-2007 at 12:26 PM

Hey Darren,

Don't mean to hijack your post, but here's mine:

I plan on getting a complete disk wheels on it for racing and a down tube similar to yours.
(Hey Jon give me a quote on the downtube;))

Camber adjusters

c3h5 - 3-12-2007 at 01:58 PM

Actually they are camber adjusters for the rear wheels.

I installed them this way to allow the buggy seat to sit lower to the ground.

Since the adjusters are a screw in design. I can flip the axle upright again to gain clearance if I run my small tires or in the future…. skiis.

leebrianh - 3-12-2007 at 02:32 PM

Looks awesome! Especially wheels!!!

elkiter or anybody. Where can I get larger disk wheels?

elkiter - 3-12-2007 at 03:07 PM

Brian,

I'll go with the normal disk wheels from Libre.
But what seems to work too are scooter wheels for all terrain surface.
check these guys setup here:

That is what I call pimping your ride!!:borg:

Ashe - 6-12-2007 at 05:41 PM

I'm curious how the weight compares between sportbike wheel & tire vs. a bigfoot buggy wheel & tire.

Pablo - 6-12-2007 at 06:03 PM

3 bigfoot lights on standard rims with the full 21x12x8 2 ply slicks weighs in at 45lbs.

But BF's are signifigantly wider than the bike rims, I see them being for totally different uses, those bike rims would be killer at speed on a lakebed where the BF's tend to get a little unballanced at 40+mph.

jantie - 22-12-2007 at 02:10 PM

that is one cool ride.!!

kullas - 22-12-2007 at 03:08 PM

That is very nice

jantie - 26-12-2007 at 01:48 PM

@C3h5

what is the weight of each wheel..??

Bucky - 28-12-2007 at 03:47 PM

Those camber adjusters... Where'd you get them? Give me details! Do they take 15mm bolts? I NEED some of them!

Camber adjusters

c3h5 - 31-12-2007 at 05:37 PM

I purchased the camber adjusters from Libre.

They are made for 20mm threaded rear axles.

A few pics with my new ice blades

A few pics of my new Ice blades
I'll be ready for some runs on the ice once it drops below freezing again!

That looks almost as good as with the bike wheels. I bet the speed would be unbelievable on ice.

Beautiful Daren

First day on the Ice. Will link videos later.

c3h5 - 21-1-2008 at 12:48 PM

Finally the lake at my work froze enough for me to trail my new Ice buggy.

The ice wasn’t smooth and the wind was anything but predictable but I was glad to be out there!

I will be making some adjustments tonight so that tomorrow I might have some better runs.

Also stopping was a bit of an adventure!

looks good, I'll upload the pics to my ice and snow buggy page if thats ok

c3h5 - 21-1-2008 at 02:22 PM

no problem go ahead.

xxxBUGGYPILOTXXX - 23-1-2008 at 12:09 AM

c3h5 - 24-1-2008 at 12:38 PM

The wheels were used red and black motorcycle rims I purchased on Ebay.

I swapped the bearings to ones with 20MM inside diameters to fit my axles, then I polished and painted them blue.

geokite - 24-1-2008 at 05:06 PM

Where is the lake bed dust??

Steve

c3h5 - 25-1-2008 at 08:19 AM

There is no “lake bed dust” in theses photos as they were taking just after completing the buggy.

And it still looks clean cause the only thing being sprayed on it recently is “ice shavings!”

Actually in about 2 hours i'll be back out on the frozen lake.

One SWEET Ride

skyraider2k - 27-1-2008 at 05:09 PM

Where did you get the wheels and was the mod easy? Also where do you get the ice blades?

Lovely job, I'd just love to try ice skating in a buggy but there's not much chance of that here in the desert.

c3h5 - 28-1-2008 at 12:21 PM

Thanks

And I would like to ride across an endless desert full of sand dunes.

But I live in New England!

sodfarmkiter - 31-3-2008 at 11:28 AM

Definitely one sweet buggy! and I see you have quite the collection of pansh kites too.:D
