I had a blast at the beach - Jekyll Island is one of my favorite destinations, but this was my first time kiting out there. Great winds and weather
this past weekend. I even got a few folks in my family to try it, some of which are now very much hooked once they got the hang of controlling the
kite. I think my dad might be looking to buy a 5m kite so that we can add it to our family quiver.
I didn't end up seeing Angus down there - maybe next time. I did see a few stunt kites and one other power kite way down the beach on Monday though.

Sorry I missed ya. You must have been out there early afternonn as I see the tide was high.
We are very fortunate to have a kite-friendly local government (Jekyll Island Authority) who support our efforts to promote kiting and keep things
safe. It's also a blast to be able to chase down the Georgia Highway Patrol and buzz their truck in the buggy to the cheers of on-lookers.
The best spot is an area we have adopted as "kite beach"- in front of Blackbeard's Restaurant, 1/2 mile north of where you drive on to the island.
There is a large sand bar there at low tide. It is also between two public access ramps and there are typically not a lot of sun-bathers there.
Kiteboarders like surfing over the sand bar and the currents are favorable. I enjoy the room on the beach in the bug, even when crowds are elswhere.
