Event, Wildwood Buggy Bash 2008

leebrianh - 28-8-2008 at 02:17 PM

It's time of the year, Folks!

What: Wildwood Buggy Bash 2008
Where: Wildwood Beach, NJ
When: September 27, 2008
Time: 8 am ~ 6 pm

We are currently communicating with HQ-USA for some demo kites, including Montana IV, Crossfire II and possibly Neo!!! We will also have many other kites you can try. No buggies? No problem! You can use my buggies and landboard for sure.

Lunch will be provided. Nothing fancy, some hotdogs and burgers. Maybe some pizza.

We will announce our gathering place as we get closer to the event day. So, stay tuned!!!

Come on out and have fun with us. For those of you who can’t make it, please pray for wind.

Special thanks to Don @ PowerKiteplace.com, NJ Buggy Club's official shop, for sponsoring this event.

PS. Seats are limited. Bring your camping chair. And sunblock.

Edit 1:We’ve determined our gathering location and it’s E 2nd Ave and John F Kennedy Beach Dr @ North Wildwood.

You can park on the side of the street and don’t have to put coins in the meter. It’s free during off season.

Edit 2: Good news! Our sponsor shop, PowerKiteplace.com will bring out HQ Neo and Montana IV to the event

Also, some folks will stay until Sunday so we are making this two day event :thumbup:

You are tempting me !

leebrianh - 9-9-2008 at 07:09 PM

Dom, I am interested in Trampa boards. If you have some room in your car, please bring it out for me.

And this is specifically for you, Dom. I've got P4 15M SA2 for you to try

barnes - 10-9-2008 at 07:00 PM

I'm also looking for a new ATB...but I doubt Trampas are in my price range! (I really need to get moving on selling my Speed! :( )

domdino - 10-9-2008 at 08:01 PM

They will totally be in your pricerange barnes :D They're older models
I'm not looking to make any money from them - i never use them and don't want them collecting dust so will take whatever people wanna give me...
One of them is the deck only, one of them includes well used skate trucks...

leebrianh - 11-9-2008 at 02:23 AM

Someone stole Barnes landboard recently

Barnes, you need a board more than I do so I will stay in line behind you for Dom's board.

domdino - 11-9-2008 at 06:42 AM

One for both of you if you want :)
This is one of them that is currently the deck and grab handle only, can obviously switch out trucks if wanted though

It has grey tyres now :P

Is there a recommended lodging for those of us traveling over 4hrs to get there? Thanks.

Apollo Motel is where Don of Power Kite Place will be staying, as well as a few more of us. As Don says, its laid back, and the best price in the area.

Apollo Motel (Be forwarned, there is a cheesy midi song that plays. Its annoying.)

ragden - 15-9-2008 at 02:47 PM

Sounds good. Anyone want to crash with the wife and I, split the cost 50/50?

DenisLaMenace - 15-9-2008 at 03:17 PM

Motel suggestion:

http://www.caribbeanmotel.com/aboutus.html

I have stayed there 3 times during summer for family vacations.

The motel is not direct on the beach (1 block) but it's a very beautiful motel with the 60's look. Walk distance from the boardwalk.

The reason we (family) like staying there, its because the motel is well taken care of, it's so clean, been completely renovated a few years ago, so clean that you can walk bare foot, rooms freshly painted. The pool is clean, and heated.

leebrianh - 22-9-2008 at 05:50 AM

Just a reminder, folks. It's this weekend!!!

domdino - 22-9-2008 at 08:40 AM

Excitedddd!!!!

domdino - 22-9-2008 at 11:36 AM

You're gonna be ashamed to be around me brian!!! For the first time in the history of my quiver i am without a single foil!!!
All ocean rodeos at the moment although i will probbably fill in the holes in my quiver with some foils :D

leebrianh - 22-9-2008 at 11:55 AM

Oh, no! what happened? I guess your P4 12M was just a demo?

No worries, you are welcome to use any of my FS kites

ragden - 22-9-2008 at 03:14 PM

Was looking at the weather for this weekend.. looks like a storm is expected to roll through right when we are going to be there... Might not affect you water rats, but the rest of us might be SOL... Here is to hoping it blows through early... or misses entirely...

tridude - 24-9-2008 at 05:08 AM

you all have a great and safe weekend but watch those rips. You have a lot bigger surf and current than we do here in the southeast.................................

leebrianh - 24-9-2008 at 05:33 AM

Looks like it's going to rain but don't know how much. Don @ powerkiteplace.com will bring out a pop-up tent to cover in case of rain but again, we just don't know whether it's going to be all day rain or occasional shower...

leebrianh - 25-9-2008 at 06:41 AM

ok, weather forecast says "50% chance of light rain" for this Saturday.

Some of us will be there rain or shine so, if you decide to come by, that would be great but if not, keep an eye on this event section as we are planning another gathering before winter.

domdino - 25-9-2008 at 07:40 AM

This looks sooooo unfair :(
Not only rain but the wind looks not good either... i'll have my fingers crossed and decide whether it's worth the trip saturday morning... i hope so......

leebrianh - 25-9-2008 at 08:08 AM

Ye, tell me about it. I bought a outdoor BBQ grill just for this event. I live in an apartment and I can't even it at home :o

ragden - 25-9-2008 at 03:29 PM

Well, the wife and i are still going. Staying over friday night at the apollo, we might even extend and stay another night, but i havent decided about that yet. Little spendy if we do that, but we'll see. Weather is looking better. Lets hope saturday is still working doin...

leebrianh - 26-9-2008 at 10:07 AM

Strange. They said it would rain today but it's just cloudy so far. Does that mean we are not going to have rain tomorrow either?

I am packing right now and will be @ Wildwood, NJ tomorrow as planned. See you there. - Brian

ragden - 26-9-2008 at 03:16 PM

Already sitting at the hotel. Weather looks nice. No rain. Little bit of cloud cover. Nice breeze blowing... almost tempted to throw up a kite right now and just mess around...

leebrianh - 26-9-2008 at 06:27 PM

ragden,

I just came back from shopping. Burgers, hotdogs, water, soda, and some chips. I am grilling rain or shine

I am leaving early tomorrow, plan to arrive at around 8 am. See you there. - Brian

domdino - 26-9-2008 at 07:41 PM

Am leaving the city around 9am! Will be there around 1 i reckon! Look forward to putting some faces to the names!!

ragden - 27-9-2008 at 09:13 PM

Just wanted to take a moment to say that i had a freaking blast out there today (saturday), wish i could have stayed another day, but hotel fees are a bit steep out there. It was awesome to see so many folks on the beach cruisin in the wind. Special thanks to Don and leebrianh. Don for the pointers, and lee for all the good eats. It was amazing. Thanks!!

Thank U

leebrianh - 28-9-2008 at 05:43 AM

Thank you all for coming despite rain forecast. Buggy enthusiasts like you guys made the event worth to have.

Folks, we were super lucky not to have rain. My girlfriend even got some sun burn :tumble:

I will try to gather some pictures and post some here later.

It a long way from the boardwalk to the water; wha wha watch out for the tram car pleaease!.........aj

bugymangp - 3-10-2008 at 08:51 AM

hey aj
very funny. hows it going????? whats your life like these days.
i didn`t go to the WW bash. i had my car packed but woke up to a lite rain. so i went back to bed. now i see the pictures and they had some sunshine. anyway i used the time to work on my 30 chevy which i`m bringing to a car show in PA next week. no i won`t be driving it there. i`m trailing it.
we had a local car show last week in the parking lot of a home depot.
i took first place for the oldest stock car there. alot of old people wanted to sit in my car for pictures. of course i let them and i had to listen to countless stories about how thier father, grandfather, drove the same car back in the day.
