exercise routines for kiting

tridude - 8-12-2008 at 09:21 PM

just curious how many of us workout (lift, run, cycle, swim, walk, stretch, etc)) to maintain fitness/strength/flexibility levels. Proven fact that increasing fitness/strength levels will not eliminate but greatly reduce the risk of injuries................

What... you mean more than the daily exercise of Donut---------->Mouth?

:P I think that's a good idea definitely. I try to get to the gym but have been slackin cuz class and work keep me busy :) . You make it to the gym tridude?

tridude - 8-12-2008 at 09:33 PM

I try and get to the gym twice a week or free weights at home. Run or swim 3 times a week (when I can).

powerzone - 8-12-2008 at 09:53 PM

ab exercises in the morning or if traveling, start a week early with ab workout and protein loading !

bloah - 8-12-2008 at 09:55 PM

I just fly kite unhooked from time to time, lol great exercise imho

KiteProject - 8-12-2008 at 10:09 PM

^ same here. Power kiting on handles, unhooked, is a great upper body workout.

lunchbox - 8-12-2008 at 10:13 PM

I go to the gym about 3 times a week (bi's, tri's, chest and abs). Try to get my legs and cardio done at my local field - kiting for about 45min. Well that parts out....been no wind local for what seems like forever!!!

bigsteve - 8-12-2008 at 10:35 PM

Pretty much same as you guys. since daylight savings has pretty much ended after work sessions at the park, I try to hit the gym 2-4 times a week and just do some cardio and vario upper and lower body stuff. Then of coarse abs till it hurts!

Fearing christmas cookie season though....

macboy - 8-12-2008 at 10:42 PM

...I've just done the math on my "glass of eggnog" too.....

Time to use the equipment we bought over a year ago ; )

nwsurfwakeskate - 9-12-2008 at 12:32 AM

hmmm....I've been severely neglecting this topic.

Singletrack and Downhill mountain biking and racquet ball have been my only exercise lately. I need to start hitting the weights and abs.

I've considered taking that up. But it sounds too exhausting.... Maybe tomorrow... uhhh, or the next day.

PHREERIDER - 9-12-2008 at 08:40 AM

abs/ wide grip chins/ dips....a combo thing
inline speed skate 20-40 ride now down to one day a week. bike 50-100 a week usually out to check the wind 12 mile round trip and if no wind at least i did something .
commute to work 15mile round trip

the leaf blower right hand 15 min finish with the left @halfway one handed is the trick don't laugh it when your over 40, light and frequent keeps tone without mass

flexibility, torso core strength with that i take a licking and keep on ticking

IF I DON"T KITE the above fills my day

rest ...the hardest part of all

action jackson - 9-12-2008 at 08:52 AM

1 1/2 packs of cigs a day,18 red bulls aweek, climbing on and off my boat and kiting, its a tough workout but seams to keep me fit................aj

lol

kitesurfer - 9-12-2008 at 09:10 AM

walk 45 minutes daly for lunch and run 4 miles after work a few days a week. jet ski on weekends with no wind--way more streneous than you would think. tandem bike occasionally. roller blade occasionally...motorcycles....yard work....
but...
I am early to bed and early to rise EVERYDAY. 9PM AND 0430!

kiteon - 9-12-2008 at 09:38 AM

i just keep it simple, pushups for breakfast usualy some dumbells in the afternoon (only if i hurt) and crunches at night. keep a simple routine and it is not hard to strey

PHREERIDER - 9-12-2008 at 09:43 AM

UNHOOKED AND HANDLES ARE GOOD BONUS WORKOUT.

THE LIGHT WIND DOWNWINDER FOR 1/2MILE THEN RUN BACK WITH THE KITE.

YES RUN ...YOU DO THIS FOR AN HOUR AND THIS MAKES CONTINUOUS RIDE FOR 2-3 HOUR EFFORTLESS

ONLY STOP FOR A SMOKE

no ox in there all bull

B-Roc - 9-12-2008 at 11:16 AM

5 strength training and 3 cardio workouts per week for me but I'm kind of a fitness nut.

I include in my workout specific forearm, wrist and neck exercises just for kiting. forearms and wrists so I can leverage the handles and neck so I don't get whiplash when I hit the ground with a helmet on.

Dude... There is NOTHING in the world like the cigarette after you run three miles, or so. Seriously. It used to be my favorite cigarette. Even better than that one!

WELDNGOD - 9-12-2008 at 07:00 PM

Since I work w/ metal everyday and the fact that metal and just about everything you use to work it is heavy.Every day is like going to the gym. So when I get home, it's time to work out the arms some more, with 12 oz. curls.

geojones - 4-3-2009 at 01:18 PM

like b-roc, im a fitness nut as well, with a power rack at my place with chains, bands, boards and 700lbs of free weights.....i go to the gym when the weather gets warmer and i powerlift.....thats HEAVY squats on mondays HEAVY bench on tuesday HEAVY deadlift thursday and LIGHT bench on saturdays.....sometimes i cancel deadlift session as my upper back can get sore as hell from kiting.....i get all my cardio from kiting as well.......

BeamerBob - 4-3-2009 at 06:45 PM

Between kiting, buggying, and pitching baseballs to my son, I'm in the best early March shape I've been in for 15 years. I just can't make the exercise for the sake of exercise work without a partner that I can't let down by not showing up. I haven't been able to see anything flex in my abs in early March since I got married. I have more that flexes right now than doesn't. At this rate, I'll be able to do Calvin Klien ads by August.:o And I'm having fun doing it all. Oh, and I ditched breakfast cereal for oatmeal every morning. I really think that is helping too. You just can't beat buggy abs.

kitedog - 4-3-2009 at 06:54 PM

I'm on the "chase the rowdy 4 year old around" work out program. Mentally and physically exhausting. Add a dozen dogs and a bunch of horses to the scenario and the gym becomes redundant.

Erics - 6-3-2009 at 07:15 AM

Get exercise at work in supermarket so do not need extra. Anyway why waste good kiting time on exercise when you could be getting it with a good kite session.

Scudley - 6-3-2009 at 07:35 PM

Tequila presses and Red Breast lifts. Watch your reps though.

I watched a exercise video while reading this thread from start to finish. So I am good for the next year or so. Right ?????

"I'm on the "chase the rowdy 4 year old around" work out program. Mentally and physically exhausting. "

I am on the same workout. Go to the park and chase my 4y old son. If I do everything he does - going down the slide and across the monkey bars - I am in serious pain the next day. I also bicycle to work but it is only a mile away. I need to get the laundry off of the workout bench and get back to the free weights.
