kitejumper - 23-6-2009 at 01:40 PM
what is your favorite kiting season and why?
mougl - 23-6-2009 at 01:53 PM
I had to go summer because quite honestly, I haven't yet had the opportunity to kite in any other season.
On a side note, when I saw the topic I was led to believe there would be dancing.
USA_Eli_A - 23-6-2009 at 01:55 PM
well on the coast, that is when we get to the breaking point. the winter time on the coast is the time to reinstall those butterflies that aren't
there in the summer.
f0rgiv3n - 23-6-2009 at 01:57 PM
Spring here in idaho is when the wind really picks up. Winter is pretty good but MAN is it cold. I flew anyways this last year but i was just plain
bundled ;P . I enjoy the spring because it's cool enough to fly outside and not sweat like crazy with all your pads on and the wind is bloooooooowin!
carltb - 23-6-2009 at 01:59 PM
every season has its advantages/disadvantages for me. but nothing beats the hot windy summer sessions.....
elfasa - 23-6-2009 at 02:36 PM
got to be summer. only because nice weather generally.
winter has better winds though
beachrights - 23-6-2009 at 02:38 PM
Still warm- NO TOURISTS ON THE BEACH!- and good winds
elfasa - 23-6-2009 at 02:55 PM
thats a good point. you do get emptier beaches out of summer.
kitemaker4 - 23-6-2009 at 03:01 PM
Summer is our off season down hear with the heat index way over 100 and light to no wind. Our good winds are fall, winter and spring.

Jovver - 23-6-2009 at 03:12 PM
Winter for me. I don't mind the cold one bit... and you can always add layers if it's too cold, but you can only remove so much when its hot.
Looking_Up - 23-6-2009 at 05:02 PM
All seasons but spring is nice and cool and there is an abundance of wind 15 to 30
kitejumper - 23-6-2009 at 05:33 PM
i give winter the slight nod over spring....terrific winds for both--and u can do all kinds of things in the snow too.......
Power Kite Guy - 23-6-2009 at 06:04 PM
It so depends on where you live and how brutal the cold is vs. how steady the summer winds are.
Aug - Dec in Brazil is nice. Warm temps and windy everyday.
Erics - 24-6-2009 at 07:55 AM
Noth ing for all yaer round. For me wind direction is the deciding factor as the best is north easterlies and we only get them every few months. So
when we get them it is everyone out.
WIllardTheGrey - 24-6-2009 at 11:24 AM
Winter great off shore wind LOOONG runs up and down beach.
Just need a good jacket.
action jackson - 24-6-2009 at 11:31 AM
Summer for lack of clothing! Spring for Nabx and fronts! Winter for travel! Fall for fronts and DBBB!...............aj
ragden - 24-6-2009 at 11:40 AM
Winter. Snowkiting rules.
Once I learn how to kitesurf successfully, I might change my mind. However, for now, winter is my choice.
Maven454 - 2-7-2009 at 08:57 AM
Winter, all the sports people are off of their nice open fields, no sun bathers, next to no tourists... beautiful.
nwsurfwakeskate - 2-7-2009 at 02:09 PM
Summer - its when we get our most consistent wind and the water is a little warmer. oh yeah and of course hot girls in bikini's
flyjump - 2-7-2009 at 02:30 PM
the fall, winds are good majority of the week in the Midwest
doublespeed360 - 2-7-2009 at 07:33 PM
the fall ,people are gone from the beach and temperature still nice, just enough cloths to crash but not to bulkly.
lad - 2-7-2009 at 08:09 PM
I guess kite surfers here would naturally prefer summer. But Fall and Spring here has better inland winds and emptier shorelines for us landlubbers.
I was so looking forward to the Summer season, but forgot all about the windless, inland doldrums and the crowded beaches. Not to mention the HEAT!
Really makes wearing protection gear a chore.
canuck - 2-7-2009 at 10:10 PM
Winter for me - there is always wind here, but good surfaces for long runs and interesting terrain features are a lot closer to home in winter. Heck,
when the wind chill gets to -40 you are motoring so you don't think about the tears frozen on your cheeks.
kitejumper - 27-7-2009 at 05:23 PM
summer winds suck @$$
snobdr - 27-7-2009 at 05:29 PM
Hmmmm winter for winds and NY lake effect snows,
Summer as the water gives a break from the heat, And girls in bikinis
Spring and fall for the buggy bashes, and lack of beachgoers
william_rx7 - 27-7-2009 at 08:13 PM
Fall, with Winter a really close second.
Riding here in Ontario, Summers have no / little wind. Just a quick landboard session here and there, with the odd kitesurf.
Come September, the beach crowd splits, the water gets cold, and cold fronts bring in some good wind over the Great Lakes. Gordon Lightfoot didn't
sing about the "Gales of November" for nothing. (wow, I just really dated myself!)
Winter, is great, but too short, just 6 weeks and it's over. February to mid March for most years on the ice.
All of my best sessions are on snow (self-shot video from last February)

I went with spring because there are so many perfect kiting days in AZ spring.
+ it's not balls hot like in the summer
lynx69 - 30-7-2009 at 09:08 AM
Spring, with strong steady wind. Fall being close second.
Hardrock - 30-7-2009 at 07:02 PM
I went with fall because it's next. The last trip to the field was 108 degrees. About 3 hours in that will drain the life from you for the rest of the
day.
That trip was really taxing as I was trying to learn to spin the 7m Ace. Ever heard of folding tips? Gesh. oh, this is a poll. sorry.
Jack1988 - 27-8-2009 at 12:59 PM
tbh i aint bothered that much as long as the wind is constant and clean and at nice speed and its not raining.
Although a blazing hot summers day on the beach with a decent wind when the tide is out is beautiful. but thats rare here lol
Jolt - 28-8-2009 at 09:55 PM
I just got recently introduced into the sport, i havent tried in any other seasons other than summer, im hoping to try some kiting in the winter.
Big Earl - 28-8-2009 at 10:36 PM
I gotta go with summer. Eventhough it's 110+ in arizona. The hotter it is the better the afternoon wind is.
rip2tide2 - 31-8-2009 at 12:17 PM
had to go with winter too. snow kiting rules.
alasdair macleod - 31-8-2009 at 12:24 PM
it will have to be summer for me because i can get out after work! in the winter here it's getting dark here at 5.30pm so that just leaves the
weekends to get out!
