Everyone is listing the Strappies at $35.

You might be able to make your own, but given the scale of economics, you aren't going to save any money.

1.5 inch webbing for primary attachment straps
1 inch webbing for secondary attachment straps
2-2.5 for leg straps
Lining material for leg straps
Closed cell foam for leg straps
Multiple sizes of tri-glides

It will all add up and if you can't source it all local or from a single source, you are going to get burned on shipping.

ATB,
Sam

^ zigackly.

There's one thing wrong with the hammerhead spreader bar - its made by Dakine :D although one of the locals has one and has used it for over 5 years...!

My solution, for new kiters especially, was to find a full waist harness that includes removable leg straps. It's been well received and the price is okay as well.

Mood: Where's the water?

My solution...two harnesses..
Dakine Vega - (seat) for land boarding (I like the lower hook point keeps my CG down lower)
Dakine Renegade- (waist) for water (higher hook point helps body dragging in water, the seat harness seems to pull me at the hips..spinning me out in body drag mode)

I agree waist harness caters to those who have certain body types...I seem to do well with either...(lucky)..

I like that HYBRID idea....

As far as comfort? I would say a good seat harness is hard to beat for land...I tend to NOT fly the kite at 12 o'clock as much with waist harness...(keep it lower)..in water...

I got a Fusion and a Renegade too. For the land - which I haven't done in years - I use the Ozone SB harness... different feel for sure.

Lots of people swear by the Dakine board shorts things... forget what they're called but they're only for skinny folks :(

Dynabar might be an option too...

here we go, custom! waist harness hillbilly seat. the harness is actually at combo waist/seat harness with seat rolled up.

and this is the "why".....hillbilly pants and seat harness just did not mix well for me. seat did not go over the pads. so i just attached them. worked great ...for land board. for water? not what u want, but tidy for all day ATB

Wow, that's perfect! I wanted to get a bum protector anyway. Any recommendation on a good one? Also, do you wear it under or over pants? I wanted to get one that I could use in the winter when snowboarding as well as when landboarding.

jadog- ones shown in photo are Hillbilly brand impact shorts. I have some and dig em. Sizing runs small, perhaps order larger size than normal. I wear mine for all ATB sessions as well as any time on the snowboard. I wear mine under my shorts/pants. DEMON makes some very nice ones as well, they breathe a bit better than the Hillbilly ones.

under the pants , but can go over. they are really not designed for "outer wear" a bit soft/fragile.

its a set up step so it gets deleted if the water is good. it definitely adds to the ampage ! i will stay on land in higher winds if i'mi already wearing... so its a choice. esp if its a weak wetsuit ride or lit land board session??? usually both....

but that looks like this, https://vimeo.com/35996229 and thats same harness with seat down

I'm totally stoked.

1) my wife loves me and spoils me rotten.
2) she doesn't give me the evil eye when a new kite shows up.
3) 23 year wedding anniversary last week, yes we attended a kite festival 6 hours of sunburn and sore arms/legs/back I was still flying.
4) I'm getting myself wayyyyy more comfortable getting hooked in with a waist harness myself.

5) She was excited when I just won an ebay auction for HER OWN own waist harness.

6) Watching other land boarders and buggies on the beach recently, her first comment was "that looks fun"

7) another 2 kite festivals we're attending in the next 4 weeks.

I

am

blessed.

she spoils me rotten and "mostly" puts up with my sheeiit..........

yay major stoke city for her first harness, that's a big step for noobie flyers!
