I took the kite to the beach today. It was wonderful - 1 thing. SD card for GoPro was still in the laptop. I had hours of fun tugging on the bar. Really learning that wind window, parking the kite on the edge. Thanks to ABKyayak, I was able to enjoy myself. 1st 5 minutes with the 500lb line I spliced myself snapped somewhere in the middle. Wasnt even under strain. I whipped out the other bar and quickly switched over and enjoyed the rest of the day. So far the kitefix and gorilla glue tape is holding up.

Does anyone normally carry spare line when they go out? I don't think making my own line was wise but I had to see for myself. Any good recommendations. LOL, NOT eBay! I'm not buying anything unless I run it through here 1st.

Big Mike? I didn't see any on your website.

How about this stuff? http://www.windpowersports.com/accessories/line/powerline.ph...

Q line is great stuff. You don't need to sleeve it . It can be used for pigtails and extensions, any length of fly line that you choose.

Yes, having a spare set of lines is a good thing to have along.

What is a good length for flying my kite, why? 60' -vs- 80 or 100?

Longer lines give you a bigger wind window so longer time in the power zone. They also sometimes allow you to get to better wind up higher. So, longer lines are effective for low wind.

Short lines work well in strong winds because they create a smaller wind window and get you out of the power zone faster.

Average length lines are about 20 - 23 meters. 10 -15 is a typical short set and 30 ( 23m lines with standard 7m extensions.)= long.

Changing line length doesn't equal changing kite size but it does allow you to fly in a wider range of wind speeds.

Thinking on this... If I were to add an extension, I would do so from the bar side? If the lines crossed during a loop, the connections wouldn't be sliding against another? There's always a right and wrong way of doing things. Like buying a kite on ebay.

save that line to make extensions for your next kite...a 4line, and i think the twisting will be further up the line then where you are thinking...unless your going real long

I very much agree. Put the money you would spend on extensions toward your 4 line kite fund. It will be far better spent that way. Flying 2 line is just an introduction. Adding brakes changes the game completely.

If you feed the loops of your lines through each other instead of using the loop to create a larks head you won't have a knot.
