I think that you will find that if you google a name with the word "kite" afterwards you will find that a lot of names have already been used. Many on 2 line stunt kites apparently.

I've always been partial to military aircraft names myself. Corsair, Mustang, Falcon, Phantom......

an error by one of our friends at VO - apparently after he found out he got someone pregnant (that references a different post on f.b.). If you see the message below the thread with all the file names - look for the wind meter, it explains the mistake but some people have started posting names under that comment as well.

An excellent example of how poor a service FB is to 'run a contest' as it's not designed for such an application. That said, OH MAN OH MAN when will the kites be released?!?!?

Krug's got me really stoked for a go on the phanny2!

Product naming is not an easy task. I would bet that a majority of the names submitted have been trademarked already. Note the adverts for the Verizon "Droid" phone state trademark licensed by Lucasfilm Ltd. Lucas owns "Droid" and variations of usage of droid.

Not only are many names already names of kites out on the market but there are a a few that are names of other current PL kites or some previous versions (Twister, Impulse, Vortex, Venom, Reactor, Rebble, even Chikara) - so that tells you many are not even aware of the Peter Lynn brand as whole to begin with.
Then names like Haka, Yakuza, Razor (Ozone)....why not just call the snow kite a Frozone Freezie, that probably isn't even close to anything out there ;-)

I don't mind watching the name game, just too bad release dates don't coincide with our optimal times of year to use the kites. LEIs coming out as winter starts here and winter kites coming out when spring surf season starts. But bottom line, new things look like they are coming out over the coming months so that's good news.

Carvel Ice cream had the best names. Cookie Puss and Fudgie the Whale. For St. PatricS-P-A-M-L-I-N-K-s day they had Cookie o' Puss..

I had the same impression on the timing. Springtime release for a winter kite? Back in June I was hesitant on buying a new 9m because I was waiting for the LEI to come out then. If the LEI is coming out the end of this year, wouldn't they have the names and graphics already??

plift, ploop, plopper, the kafoom - I'm just hearing public bathroom

and then - "tent peak" maybe it translates differently?

any guesses on how many posts by the time the contest closes

Might not be good for marketing... but my twinskins are "Globalist". I've flown them in multiple countries. They fly wether on land, water, or anything in between. Yet to meet a PL advocate not willing to travel to fly, or fly when they get there to travel.

couldn't help but notice the use of plurals, ie, not kite, but kites
" Leading edge inflatable kites will be introduced towards the end of the year, snowkites will be introduced towards the spring of 2012 "

i doubt there is anything to it, is there? I can't see a company coming out with more that one kite of each type right away. I mean, they already have 3 kites to be released in fairly short succession if those timelines are right.

Well they will be making more than just a single piece? plus also factor in numerous sizes of each model..

ya, timing seems backwards for us...pretty much okay for the southern hemisphere though. Wonder if they expect to sell more kites down south.
