After today I've sorted some stuff out that I thought I might share now that I have used all 4 of my sizes of stars. First, the size needed is a
minimum of 1 size smaller than what you would use on grass. It should feel comfortable holding the bar, if it feels like it's ripping your arms off
then size down. Less is more I find to keep good control. Second, turning ability is critical to flow with gusts and to make seamless transitions.
Landboard is not the greatest as it's harder to turn IMO. Also, the most fun sizes are the 2.5 and 4. 5.5 and 7 still work well but transitions
require better piloting due to lighter air dumbing the performance a bit. Still a work in progress but well worth the time put in.
Damn- I hate to admit it but this kites are perking my interest- I know that riding on pavement takes virtually no wind to get going and when I have
tried my foils on short lines it is in no fun
Hmmmmm... you don't say?!?!... what was that you called it on our phone conversation a couple of months ago, Scott??? The "Nada star"?!?!
That vid of the Peak robinsonpr, it looks like he hooked straight to the kite, what you would find is that you'd need to hold the handles like an NPW
as there is more power directed to the bottom of the handles due to the de-power, find the balance and you're away.

I did it! Every time I see a video of Steffen effortlessly flying on no lines I would get infuriated. I've tried a few times on landboard but not
since I've had the longboard. Today after work, I was determined to give it another try. Great wind and warm day. I used the 4 meter in a school
parking lot (they are out on break). It worked perfectly, I couldn't believe it. No back stall no messing around, after a very short time I was
doing nice and smooth transitions and it's cool having the kite so close. Anyways, I feel I had done the "no lines" a disservice talking negatively
about it. Once you have short lines with the stars down then no lines is not far off, and it's much easier with longboard. Also, don't start off
learning on a pathway at a park. If you've been daydreaming about that, it's easier to learn in a lot. Also, my freedom of movement and usable space
has just increased exponentially again.
In case you missed it in the npw thread. Randy and I were able to get together when he was in Indy last Sunday and he made a video. Winds were in
the high 20's gusting mid 30's. It was a little much for the 2.5 ns2 so we used Randy's own single keel 1 meter npw kites. I was still a little
underpowered but they are an absolute blast to fly.
It was a pretty wild day - the wind was also very gusty, and shifted around a lot. Sean was really working that kite. The blue one did manage the
winds and gusts well - the green one was a bit twitchy - the ram air tube was easy to deflate. I need to get some practice on a longboard - it really
does allow you to get moving in less wind and with less power as compared to a mountain board.
Field was too muddy to use so I took to the parking lot on the buggy and board. Tried to do a deadman on short lines with the nasa. Not sure it's
possible but I can dream and keep trying. As I've progressed, I'm starting to liberate myself from the kite killer when I'm longboarding.
Looking good, I was in a parking lot today for about 3 hours, Try ed working the board,
fell a lot, going to be hurting tomorrow. Hi winds that game from every point of the compass.
I should have just went home, but no I out their for 3 long hurting hours. Spent more time on the payment then skateboarding. I had to big of a kite
for the wind and me not know any think about it. I lived and will be back out tomorrow, less wind tomorrow.
renny
It's top secret. It's the school near greenwood I was telling you about. It's great on a west wind for the parking lot and any direction for the
fields.
Good job renny, keep at it. The wind was all over the place today.
Cool vids. Do the NPWs or NasaStars have an advantage over traditional foils on short lines? I have a whole quiver of FBs that never get flown.
While I dread the thought of flying them over pavement, it would be a lot cheaper and easier to cut up a short lineset and have at it as opposed to
ordering a redundantly sized quiver of NPW or NS3s.
-Sean, you should really where a helmet when on the longboard whether riding or kiting. One rock or blown bearing or broken kingpin or simple trip
and you go over backwards and its game over.

I just got a new helmet and had it on the whole time except when I used it as a tripod on the ground. I'm really liking my new helmet so I will be
wearing it.
I wish I would have tried my fb's on different lengths of lines before I sold them, so I don't know how they would do. I'll bet you could use half
length lines and they would work. I would definitely give it a try. In fact, I've been wishing I had my twister and viper s so I could have tried
it.
Very observant volock. I've actually been working quite hard at that but still have trouble doing it in a controlled manner. I've had several minor
wipeouts. I need to learn to shift my weight correctly and at the right time with the kite. Yes it is very doable, I just need more practice.
Yes, you were very close to sliding on a number of those runs with the camera on the ground. I just came in from a short slide session. You're
running 78a wheels, correct? If you go up to an 81-85a wheel you'll be sliding nicely but all it takes it a bit more effort and you can slide any
wheel and the softer wheel will be more controlled and help you scrub speed..

Working in a church over Easter weekend means its like working in the stadium during Superbowl weekend... I've been a little out of touch here,...but
hey, looking good Sean!
I'm giving super strong consideration to getting a longboard
