Thanks Tridude! Sullivan's is my favorite. Lots of space even with lots of kites in the air. The Atlanta contingent was in effect. Maybe now I have some peeps to share a ride with down there.

My progression is advancing slowly but surely. Next I want to learn some aerial transitions. Any hints?

next couple of days big wind from the south, wednesday should be full on . 25mph + all day.

KD ---try cross wind line, moderate speed . set up like a jump just before the apex redirect the new direction expect down wind landing. maybe open up arm to new direction to help with balance. remember LOOK where you want to go and that helps most redirect reflexes develop. get a good feel of air speed for the day, land on your strong side if you have determined that.

I've wondered about that. How much does the rain impede kite performance? I know we get them wet but then they dry off. If they are constantly getting wet, does it slow things down?

if the wind solid no problem. fall /winter rains here are ridable.

the sudden heavy rain contains odd wind patterns and should be avoided.

but if it 's been raining" all day " type thing and the wind is good no problem

hardest part the launch. gotta be quick to make it easy ....fartin' around with a wet sandy rig no fun ,AND DON'T OPERATE ZIPS IF SANDY AND WET. leave them alone and work around it

Ridiculous day. I'd like to see a wind graph. Seriously...must have been gusts up over 20. The water was as choppy as I've ever been in and don't even get me started about the rain. My Pulse 2 was in effect and even trimmed off all the way I was rocketing upwind.

I need a butter pond session after that!

the tides were 180 off..........................next time we'll go to 3rd at IOP or Folly.............once you past the break its much smoother........the sandbar at Sullis churns up a lot of waves/water when the wind gets honkin.......I had 26 gusting to 30 on the local site................so the 8m Pulse 2 was rock stable..............how did she fly during the showers.......................OBTW with that session successfully behind you promotes you to the intermediate level:lol::lol::duh::duh:

My new saying is "what doesn't kill you make you a better kiter!" Glad to join the ranks of intermediate kitersurfers.

There was a bunch of locals there that were doing downwinders to 3rd Street. Frankly, I was having a hard time going down wind at all. I need to work on that!

Sullivan's was truly a cauldron yesterday. There wasn't any rhythm to the pitch of the swells. It really worked me. I'm glad I didn't lose or break anything!

tri/ KD i gotten a few sessions in around midday .

the SW thing yesterday WOW. big rollers . glad your getting the sessions.

KD on the down wind thing ..options to feel it out better

keep the kite in the upper part of the window, keep it FORWARD of you...

loosen up on TOP of the board , more tail pressure( kinda like slowly rolling to toeside) in a downwind run.

keep the kite active! be prepared to dive the kite to speed it up and fall back to keep everything hooked up. once you get it hooked a couple times it s easy

2nd option

JUMP ! the action gets fast with landing down wind hot and heel edge hard to
pop again and again and again. this uses the very front of the wind window.

hardest part , giving up your up wind gain but when the wind is great , you get back easy on the next leg back.

SATURDAY NE coming!

if i can get it together with some shopping/dinner SAT. SULLI's if it works.

low tide start and wind combo sounds good. the blow will get here later in the day, so much better position up there for late am start.

i'll get that going. looks too good to pass, or hang for too late down here

Wish I could get back out with you guys. I think I used up my credits on Wednesday.

Good advice Phree...I'll have to try both those downwinder techniques next time I'm out. That was kinda frustrating and bass ackwards from what I'm used to. Doing the reverse walk of shame was a strange experience.

Hope to see you guys sometime soon!
