The only kite store in Orlando, Hawaiian Kiteworks closed up a year and half ago. The best store I know, on the east side of Florida, for kite surfing is in St. Augustine. Which is about a two hours and then some drive North/East. Extreme Kites website is oceanextremesports.com/ for more info.

To buy anything you gotta go to St. Augustine or just order online. Or you could try Sandy Point Progressive Sports in Daytona. I've not been there for years. http://www.progressivesports.com/

Look me up if your over this way. I'm not a huge fan of Orlando...... To many weekend warriors come over to the coast from Orlando :ninja:

The website I use for long range wind forecast is wind finder. The Daytona link is www.windfinder.com/windstats/windstatistic_daytona_beach.htm Check out the Statistic and the forecast. Oh and this is why I go to this beach a lot in May. www.windfinder.com/windstats/windstatistic_augustine_beach_buoy.htm I try not to go so much on the weekend because of the locals who dislike the orlando weekend warriors.

Look me up if your in the area. Cocoa Beach isn't the best place for landboarding due to mostly wrong tides and lots of people. Cocoa Beach has only a very narrow area to landboard on during low tide. At high tide there is no hard packed sand to ride on. There are some good places on the west coast and St. Augustine is a better beach for landboarding.

It's super crowded today on the beach...O-towners are here already. I guess I'll just chill in and by my pool until they leave in the early evening then I'll goto the beach.

See ya-Scott

In August it's pretty hot and the beachs are crowded during the day. In the evenings people start to leave and that's usually when the wind picks up some. August is hit or miss for winds as well. During the day a lot of times the wind is blowing offshore but it switches to an easterly/southeasterly wind in the evenings when the thunderstorms start picking up strength in Orlando. I think the t-storms create big thermal winds which are very very steady on the beach. But they are light most of the time. A big kite is the way to go. I'd like to get a 15-19 meter Flysurfer SA for the light seabreeze winds.

Bummer
I was over in nokomis beach on the west coast last year and the same no wind:(
Ah Hopefully ill get out,ill be up in oceanextremesports.com anyway to buy some new kites:)
One of the guys has a 17m flysurfer here not sure he gets to much use out of it as its pretty much always honking or no wind what so ever....no inbetween which can be a pain.
